• The Twenty — your standing offer. Up to twenty things you'd give, do, teach, or learn — built slowly, over months of being asked. Each item is an open offer (no accounting) or time-banked (hours build spendable credit); matching walks your web of trust first. It replaces the resume — a document designed for selling yourself — with an offer. Items quietly retire unless re-confirmed: the list is who you are this season.
• The Lineage — no idea lost. One-tap capture with no folders or forms; ideas develop for days before the system shows similar existing work ("think first, see later"); a mechanical source-credit chain so being the origin of something becomes a fact, not a fight; confidential appraisal under agreement; and your own old thinking resurfaced at intervals — "your past self is one of the people on your team."
• The Lookout — foresight, contributed. The community's futures as a live branching graph, each branch carrying a probability, a desirability, and the question that produced it. Fed by two-minute habits: the weekly "what future do you expect / what future do you want?", estimate-and-revise rounds, and scenario ranking. Contributions weighted by track record — not who they are, but how often they've been right. "Not an oracle — a council screen." The named enemy: the demon of stupidity, "a black cloud" — the absence of shared foresight, never a person.
• Your Say — the community's decision system. Proposals arrive from four springs — measured gaps, promoted ideas, dimming futures, and any resident's twenty seconds of plain language — so nothing is lost for lack of a champion. The method is matched to the decision: consensus-finding for open questions, weighted voting for contested ones, citizens' assemblies by lottery for heavy ones, standing positions by conviction. A light, opt-in, auditable knowledge gate weights informed votes. "No back rooms. Sortition catches what voting misses."
• The Hearth — care that holds. Small self-managing care teams of about a dozen, no managers, long relationships — the same faces, week after week. Fights the three plagues by design: loneliness (a cup of tea, not a "wellness check"), helplessness (never doing for people what they can still do), boredom (gardens, animals, children as care infrastructure). Crisis response within 24 hours with the person's whole network at one table — professionals plugged in, not in charge. "Care that holds, before the breaking."
• The Commons — what we hold together. Land in trust, tool libraries, repair cafés, open hardware and knowledge, community energy and water, open-source digital infrastructure, mutual credit that can't leave or be hoarded, and seeds. Governed by Ostrom's eight principles; defended from enclosure by a cannot-be-sold list, steward ownership, and transparency — quiet enclosure requires darkness. "Well-governed commons last for centuries."
• The Mend — repair, not punishment. Trained facilitators and three load-bearing methods: restorative meetings, nonviolent communication, and talking circles. Handles interpersonal conflict, low-level harm, group fracture, and charter disputes — with honest triage: serious violence and danger belong to real emergency services. Exclusion exists only as a named, visible last resort. "No community is without conflict. The mark of a healthy one is what happens next."
• The Threshold — arriving and leaving, honoured. Arrival in three stages — acknowledging what's being left, a held in-between with a buddy and reduced expectations, then incorporation: marked, named, witnessed. The right to refuse the whole system is stated on day one. Departure takes your data and keeps your credit and your chapter; even difficult departures come with published reasons, appeal, and practical support — expulsion into homelessness is harm the community refuses to inflict.
• The Forge — learning, mutual and lifelong. Children learn in self-directed, mixed-age settings; adults in folk-school courses and study circles where the participants are the teachers; skills pass by apprenticeship, found through the Twenty and paid in credit; and the Living Library lets you borrow a person for a conversation. "Most genuinely useful knowledge in any community is in the heads of the residents already."
• The Garden — place, kept. Permaculture as the backbone (earth care, people care, fair share); everything within a 15-minute walk; pattern-language design for what gets built; genuine partnership with the traditional owners of the land; food first, materials second, and beauty as a design constraint, not a luxury.
• The Living — work and care, fairly held. A resident's income is a braid: waged work, co-op share, time-banked hours, care work counted and paid, contribution stipends, and compensation when your idea becomes policy. Co-ops get the scaffolding solo founders lack — bookkeeping, legal templates, bridging capital. A 4-day default week, sabbaticals every seven years, and steward ownership of the project itself.
• The Calendar — shared time. A daily shared meal somewhere; a weekly rest day the whole community honours together — even the AI dims its prompts; monthly repair cafés and death cafés; festivals on the seasons; and communal singing scheduled on purpose, because the evidence says not running it is a design failure. "Belonging is partly the experience of shared time, returning."
• The Story — honest memory. Three layers: the history (including the parts that age badly), the present chronicle, and the working future narrative — kept by paid chronicle keepers, fed by invited-never-required oral histories stored under each resident's own control. "A community that can name its own failures is a community capable of not repeating them."
• The Federation & the Tide — the horizon. Communities don't survive alone: skills findable three towns over, solidarity in shocks, shared defence — "a single community can be picked off; a federation cannot" — under one rule: federate capabilities, not identities. And over everything, the Tide: the one shared measure (ten dimensions, always a distribution, never a score) with the standing test for every proposal — "does this raise the Tide, and does it keep us inside the Doughnut?"

Take any of them alone; together they are one design. Some are ready today, some need a village to exist first, some are honestly speculative — they're all here so nothing is lost.

The helper — everything the personal AI does

• The one-minute check-in. Three rows — Life, Health, Mind — each Excellent → Bad, expanding to "why?" only if you want. The 2014 seed of the whole project: an app that "sits on your phone like someone or something cares."
• Three dials, your hand on all three. Visibility (words only → activity → anything that helps), Engagement (Witness / Coach / Direction — Direction always one-tap overridable), Conviction (how much your long-held commitments outweigh a bad Tuesday).
• The protocol library. Crowd-tested help, ranked by what actually worked for people in your situation — every suggestion voted up or down by whether it helped, evolving a live top-ten per problem.
• Tags → protocols → missions. Any stated problem or goal becomes a tag; tags match to protocols; protocols arrive as small doable missions with follow-ups — "Did you do X today? No — why not?"
• Life achievements. Steam-style, for life itself: Back in the continuum — corrected a major problem in your life; Master of your own mind — overcame a negative thought pattern; Savior — accomplished a humanitarian goal.
• Journal-fed, if you choose. Hand it your journal and it knows what makes you happy, what you want, and what you believe your barriers are — and it learns from thousands of real lives what actually brought people peace.
• Predictive search. It knows your whole question-history, so it can jump you to the "magic question" people like you eventually found — asking clarifying questions like a mentor instead of treating every query as from a stranger.
• Vision-state mode & spaced resurfacing. A quieter interface for idea-flooded minds, and your own old thinking returned to you at intervals — "your past self is one of the people on your team."
• Mentor allocation. People sharing a problem can be grouped under a human or AI adviser; organisations can "adopt" a problem area; with consent, a doctor can follow ongoing wellbeing data instead of guessing from a ten-minute appointment.
• Full-assistance mode — by explicit choice only. For someone who feels completely lost: the AI can temporarily run the bills, bookings, and daily plan — always visible, always one tap from off. The maximum tier of a consent staircase, never a default.
• The quiet watch & the worry message. Consented slippage detection that tells you first — "We're worried about you… if we're checking too much, say so" — then walks the escalation staircase you chose in advance. "Before they swipe red — a booking that could change fate."
• Ethics check-ins, the conciliator, and the Digital Will. You re-audit what your AI knows and does on a schedule; a named human can overrule it when you and it disagree; and you decide in advance what happens to its memory of you when you die.

Homes & land — more ways in

• The east–west model. Market-rate homes on one side of a development fund the affordable core on the other — investors repaid from sales and construction margin, affordability locked by the land trust.
• The Old Apartment Fund. A non-profit fronts the deposit for a broke person to buy a cheap distressed building now — "before you lose your vision to the next twenty years saving for it" — repaid at 30% of income; running the building becomes their job.
• Council-owned land, resident-built homes. Where a council holds the land and supplies materials and standard plans, anyone can build anytime and buy at 30% of income.
• A government-insured build channel. Household savings flow into building identified-needed things instead of land speculation, with the return underwritten.
• Labour as deposit. Modular shells with pipes and wiring stubbed in — time-rich, cash-poor people finish them themselves and the finishing is their equity.
• Deliberate oversupply. More homes than households, built durable (no cosmetic cover-ups allowed), so scarcity value structurally cannot form. Homes are a product, not an investment.
• Own space as violence prevention. Universal own-space — including separate-but-adjacent homes for couples, and children always having their own room — because most domestic harm persists when people can't leave.
• Dynamic proximity. One free home is always kept in every friend-group; and you can quietly change a relationship's status so someone is never placed near you again — no confrontation, the map just drifts.
• Robot moving day. A share of spaces double as robot-run storage vacated in hours, so a home is always free the moment it's needed; belongings travel by pallet robot; moving is "defragmentation" that pulls friends adjacent.
• Home-swap hygiene. Swapped homes are cleaned and rest empty briefly between occupants — every move smells like a fresh start.
• The face map. Choose an area by its actual community — who lives there, what they do, what's on — instead of by hearsay and price per square metre.
• Grace before anything else. Missed payments meet a pause, a time-bank draw, and a path back — default, death, and exit rules are all written in advance, not decided in grief. Leaving is honourable: you go with your home's value, which is the surest proof it isn't a cult.

Work & money — the fuller economy

• The reverse job market. Nobody applies for anything. You keep a standing offer of things you'd do, teach, or learn — and work comes to you, arriving on your things-to-do list when you wake.
• Work anytime. Demand visible live, work joinable any hour with short video training — and you can see which gigs your friends are on and join them.
• In-line booking. Nothing runs on time slots. Booking anything puts you in a queue; when you're both free, a window-offer fires. No waiting rooms, no wasted afternoons — and queue length quietly signals where casual work is needed.
• The disturbance-to-solution pipeline. Any logged complaint becomes a scoped, claimable, credited task — the person most bothered by a problem can be funded to fix it.
• AI does the admin. For any community project, the AI absorbs the paperwork, scheduling, and sourcing — attacking the number-one reason volunteer energy dies.
• The time bank, properly. An hour is an hour — the person who listens is worth the person who plumbs. Hardship draws are a floor, not a debt; and the design watches both failure modes — the free-rider and the over-giver who burns out.
• A local currency that stays local. Mutual credit that can't leave the community and can't be hoarded, only spent — so trade keeps circulating when the outside economy stumbles.
• The wage-ratio law. In community businesses, no one earns more than a modest multiple of anyone else — with honest exceptions for the unwanted jobs.
• Community-owned business incubation. The community funds a business and owns its assets until paid off; if the operator quits, it passes to someone else; a slice of profits funds locally-voted ideas and local inventors.
• Employment-conditioned leases. Commercial tenants around the community hire residents (or pay a fee), and lease income recycles into building more homes — a fund that perpetuates itself.
• Local-employment tax discount. An inverse sin tax: employing people or buying services locally is cheaper by design.
• The freelance-demand watcher. The AI notices when a self-employed person is seeking work again and routes clients to them.
• 20 Options. Anyone without direction lists twenty things they'd like to do; the system finds the overlap with what the community needs and lets them switch anytime.
• Universal Basic Contribution. Needs are guaranteed; everyone contributes something — and caring, learning, mentoring, and art all count. Care work is counted and paid.
• Points with somewhere to go. Contribution credit redeemable as access — tools, courses, project slots, free time. A quiet track (calm credits) recognises the people who keep places tranquil, green, and kind.
• Fair sin taxes. Where a community can set them, addiction taxes proportionate to income — so they stop functioning as a poverty engine.

Ideas & invention — the town that pays for thinking

• Eureka Town. A district in the New Atlantis tradition: galleries of local inventions, consultations on what to pursue, and statues residents can actually earn.
• The invention counsellor. A bound, confidential profession — like a psychologist for inventors — who appraises ideas under an agreement and publishes only anonymous scores, solving the trust problem that stops people sharing.
• The inventor pension. A minimal living income for anyone who keeps producing good ideas, whether or not they ever profit — with idle years of grace and an open way back.
• Think first, see later. New ideas develop for days before the system shows you similar existing work — so your thinking isn't dragged into the shape of what already exists.
• The source-credit chain. Every idea records who had it first and who added what, and the credit travels with every output — attribution mechanical, not optional.
• Implementation notifications. When the community implements an idea, everyone who ever submitted it is told, credited, and compensated — even years later, even if eleven people had it. A permanent "you did something people can say."
• Idea scouts. Paid harvesters who find good ideas in the community's blogs, talks, and dinner conversations — and credit the authors.
• Cross-domain risk scanning. The AI's cheapest superpower: stitching together fields whose experts don't read each other — overlaying two data layers nobody combined and producing the one testable question that settles it.
• Lost-thinker rescue. When a once-prolific contributor goes dark, the system notices — and what follows is a conversation and an offer, never a flag in a database.

Decisions & foresight — the fuller toolkit

• The Time Tree. The community's futures as a live branching graph — each branch with a probability, a desirability, and the question that produced it; disaster branches marked red, fading as the community acts. Not an oracle — a council screen.
• The weekly two-minute foresight habit. "What future do you expect? What future do you want?" — the gap between the answers is the most useful single signal a community can collect.
• Foresight you can't easily game. Track-record weighting ("not who they are — how often they've been right"), visible flagging of suspicious voting clusters, full open audit, and time-decay on old predictions.
• The proof-of-knowledge gate. On binding votes, demonstrated engagement earns extra weight — opt-in, light, auditable; feedback stays open to everyone.
• Your AI carries your vote. For everything you can't attend — voting as it believes you would, listing everything it did, reversible in one tap. A voice for the quiet, the busy, and the shy.
• The constant census. Aggregated check-ins as the community's sensory organ — catching a neighbourhood's bad sleep or rising isolation as weather, never as files on people.
• Research → experiment → implement. The standard three steps for any change, with the AI asked first for historical precedents. New rules pilot on a willing street, time-boxed and measured, before adoption.
• The twelve-year re-founding. On a fixed cycle the community formally re-asks its own design: what's changed, what problems and options exist now — keep, change, or hand over.
• Experimental rule-zones. Different areas may run different social rules, chosen by the people who move there — with hard guardrails: a universal rights floor, transfers from richer to poorer areas, free movement always, and no race to the bottom.
• Simulation before commitment. A digital twin predicts a proposal's effect — "add a gathering place here → this lift in connection" — before anything is built; multi-agent AI simulation is an imagination aid, never a verdict. Humans first.
• Dissent as infrastructure. A protected dissent forum where the AI's assigned job is to strengthen the objectors' case before any vote — and the standing custom of the Unsettling Question: regularly asking the community something uncomfortable about itself, on purpose.
• The AI audited like a power. A separate watchdog can halt any system that drifts from the charter; a rotating citizen ethics council can suspend any system; standing red teams probe forever; every significant recommendation carries a plain-language "why."

Gathering & culture — the rest of the daily fabric

• The Hall. Every village's heart: a buffet of neighbour-cooked dishes with the cook's name on each, a rolling schedule of talks and performances, projected walls anyone can post to, pop-up business rooms, and the pick-up work board. Walk in with no reason and no money needed.
• The ambient screen. A soft glowing sphere at home shows — as colours, not notifications — friends at the Hall, joinable work, tonight's events, a birthday. Presence without scheduling. One tap makes you invisible, no explanation owed.
• Paid audiences. The community sometimes pays people to attend performances — so no beginner ever plays to an empty room, and being an audience is understood as a contribution.
• Welcome screens. Opt-in kiosks at venues that greet you and surface connections — "John knows your friend Michael, and you both like science fiction" — with points for talking to someone new.
• The Calendar, in full. A daily shared meal somewhere; a weekly rest day everything honours together (the AI included); monthly repair cafés and death cafés; seasonal festivals; and communal singing scheduled on purpose, because the health evidence says not running it is a design failure.
• The festival test. It's a festival when a third of the community shows up. Until then it's an event — and events are allowed to take years to grow into festivals.
• Memory weaving. A periodic ritual where the AI helps assemble the season's collective moments and personal anecdotes into one shared retelling.
• The transparency layer. Any shared object can tell you its story on demand — who designed the bench, who built it, what the building's energy footprint is.
• Local missions. Real local opportunities as small phone quests — designed so people addicted to games can spend that drive on things that pay and matter, free, with something real at the end.
• Telepresence for the far away. Simple 3D presence so a distant friend can "sit beside you" at the table — community infrastructure, not a product.
• Treasure hunts. Scanning historic buildings for hidden rooms and caches — a ready-made community activity that doubles as heritage work.
• Journaling as a civic act. The guided journal that asks the right questions — and, anonymised and consented, becomes the community's knowledge of what actually breaks and heals people.

Care & health — the fuller design

• The same faces. Small fixed care teams with real authority and long relationships — the enemy is the "who are you and what's the issue today?" phone call.
• The three plagues, fought by design: loneliness (not a "wellness check" — a cup of tea), helplessness (help that does things for people they can still do is harm in a kind disguise), and boredom (gardens, animals, and children treated as care infrastructure).
• Open Dialogue for crisis. Response within 24 hours, the person's whole network at one table from day one, professionals plugged in but not in charge — and always alongside clinical care, never instead of it.
• Peer support, lateral not hierarchical. Hearing-voices groups, recovery cafés, grief circles — companionship with clear routes to professionals, never treatment by amateurs.
• Predictable safety first. Calm is learned through repeated, predictable safety, and thinking returns only after regulation — so the design order is fixed: regulate first, then invite. "Calm is a biological update."
• Environment-health trials. The standing experiment: does a secure home plus chosen friends plus meaningful activity keep people well, compared with coaching alone or medication alone? Run with consent, arms only ever additive, published honestly.
• The sleep-context app. Correlates sleep with living situation and prescribes social fixes — "have someone stay over; buy something for the house together" — then measures whether it worked.
• Chosen-company elder care. Nursing-home decline reframed as unchosen-company trauma; elders age beside people they picked, inside the community, not parked alongside it.
• Repair, not punishment. Conflict runs a ladder — quiet word, mediation, facilitated circle, and only ever as a last visible resort, a paid-out move. Nobody is exiled into homelessness.
• Arrival and leaving, honoured. Newcomers get a buddy, a slow welcome, and the right to refuse the whole system named on day one. Leavers take their data, keep their credit, and keep their chapter in the community's story — with their name removed if they wish.
• The relationship economy, corrected. Roughly 60% of life satisfaction rides on close relationships; under 1% of the old economy serves them. This community's budget is the correction.

The commons — what's held together

• Governed like the commons that lasted. Ostrom's eight principles as requirements: clear boundaries, locally-fit rules, the governed can change the rules, accountable monitors, graduated sanctions, cheap dispute resolution, outside recognition, nested levels.
• Held in common: the land (trust-owned, permanently), tools and machines (libraries of things, repair cafés, right-to-repair), open hardware and knowledge (open by default, with source-credit), energy and water (village microgrids, closed loops), digital infrastructure (open source, federated), working capital (the mutual credit), and seeds.
• Anti-enclosure, three ways. A cannot-be-sold list in the charter; steward ownership, so the container holding the commons can't itself be acquired; and transparent monitoring — quiet enclosure requires darkness.
• The place itself. Permaculture as the backbone (earth care, people care, fair share); everything within a 15-minute walk; pattern-language design; genuine partnership with traditional owners of the land; and beauty as a design constraint, not a luxury.

Growing & federating

• Grow by budding, not bloating. Villages stay around a hundred households; a full village helps seed the next.
• Honey pots. Villages that visibly nail life become the face of the community — tours route through them, newcomers request them, their ideas spread through the shared index.
• Buffer-zone borders. Village edges made of the useful public things — storage, held-open homes, pop-up shops — so communities touch through their friendliest spaces. Each group also keeps chosen grounds: shared space that is theirs alone.
• The island problem. A single good community carries alone the cost of being good in a bad surrounding system — so communities federate: skills findable three towns over, solidarity in shocks, shared legal defence ("a single community can be picked off; a federation cannot"), and lessons inherited instead of re-learned.
• Federate capabilities, not identities. Decisions stay at the lowest level competent to make them; every community keeps its sovereignty and can leave with its data.
• The Beacon Effect. A working example changes minds better than argument — which is why everything here is published, visitable, and copyable.

The measures & the evidence

• The Tide. One shared measure of how life is going — connection, material security, health, agency, meaning, care, unhurried time, place, foresight participation, and the frequency of flat empty days — weighted, long-term, and always shown as a distribution, never a single number. Not a score; no leaderboards; personal readings never leave your device.
• The scan behind the recommendations. The community profile scores its gaps and ranks fixes from a deck of proven, scored ideas — and rejecting the recommendation is not a bug; it is the design.
• The science this stands on. Functional distance — repeated incidental contact is how friends are actually made, so design the accidental hello: third places, overlapping paths, shared meals, fire pits. Holt-Lunstad's meta-analyses; the 85-year Harvard study; Rat Park — "the opposite of addiction is connection."
• The 510 societies. A compiled database of historical examples pointing the same way: when the cost of shelter hyper-inflates away from wages, societies break. The clearest single argument for building differently — and for measuring whether this attempt is any different.

Making people richer — savings, finance, and the ladder up

The chapters imagine a world past scarcity; this section is about getting there — the practical machinery that leaves ordinary people with more money, more assets, and more options than the outside economy does. The aim is a ladder anyone can stand on: from nothing, to savings, to a room, to a home, to a stake in something.

Wealth by design, not by luck

• Equity instead of rent — the biggest raise most people will ever get. Every payment at ~30% of income builds ownership. Rent is the single largest wealth leak in a low-income life; closing it does more than any side hustle can.
• The first asset early. From sixteen, anyone can start paying off a room — a real, swappable, upgradeable asset — so compounding starts at the age the outside world starts debt.
• Sweat equity that counts. Finishing your own shell home, or building homes for others through the always-open build work, converts spare time directly into owned value — verified improvements are honoured at resale.
• Low bills as a savings plan. Community solar and storage, insulation built into every shell, shared kitchens, tool libraries, repair cafés, and staff-free bulk buying — the cheapest dollar is the one the place never asks you for. “Low bills, not an ideology.”
• Group buying power. The community purchases as one — energy, internet, insurance, staples — and passes the wholesale price through. Membership pays for itself before anyone lifts a finger.

The AI in your corner, financially

• The entitlements finder. Enormous sums of welfare, rebates, and legal entitlements go unclaimed every year because the forms are hostile. Your AI checks what you’re actually owed — benefits, concessions, refunds, unclaimed super — and files the paperwork with your say-so.
• Pay-fairness analysis. With consent, the AI compares what you’re paid against what people doing your work are paid — and tells you, plainly, when you’re underpaid and what asking for the correction looks like.
• A money mentor, not a product. Budgeting, savings goals, debt triage — with the charter’s teeth: it sells nothing, nudges toward no purchase, and earns nothing from your choices. It warns about predatory credit instead of offering it.
• Admin recovered. Bill disputes, subscription rot, fee refunds, comparison-switching — the small financial chores that quietly cost thousands are exactly the work an AI does tirelessly and you never enjoy.
• Fair credit inside the community. Mutual credit and time-banked hours cover the gaps payday lenders feed on — and hardship draws are a floor, not a debt.

Savings with somewhere to go

• The build channel. Resident savings can fund the community’s own construction — homes, workshops, energy — with returns underwritten, so saving builds the place instead of inflating land prices somewhere else.
• The perpetuating fund. Commercial lease income and construction margin recycle into building more homes — a community asset base that grows itself and pauses when it isn’t needed.
• The Old Apartment Fund. Deposit fronted for a broke person to buy a distressed building now, repaid at 30% of income, running it becomes their livelihood — wealth-building for exactly the people banks refuse.

What residents get instead is the version of wealth that actually changes lives — security, low costs, owned assets, income you can’t be laid off from, and money that stays in the community’s pocket rather than leaking out of it.

The open problems — kept in the open on purpose

Most published visions hide this list, which is how they fail in exactly the ways their critics predicted. The foundations keep a standing record of what is unresolved — "the mark of a healthy ambitious project is the size of its parking lot."

Tensions inside the design

• The right to refuse the system vs. free-riding on those who run it — genuinely unresolved.
• The right to be forgotten vs. the community's honest memory — softened by "removable, not destroyable," but with no clean answer.
• Long-held convictions carrying voting weight vs. the legitimate change of mind.
• Knowledge-weighted voting could entrench the already-educated.
• Paying for adopted ideas invites volume-over-quality gaming.
• Any wellbeing measure tempts people to perform wellness for it.
• Comfort erodes purpose; good advice becomes soft pressure; planning skills can atrophy against a system that predicts well — motivational drift, the burden of optimal choice, predictive dependency.

Practical gaps

• The crisis-care methods are hard to staff; small communities need different care models than large ones.
• "No records" commitments can collide with mandatory-reporting law; some crises are simply for emergency services — and the honest triage must know its limits in real time.
• The whole system leans on the personal AI working well: one bad update cascades into every organ.
• Land-value capture needs legal conditions many regions lack; famous cooperative models grew in cultures that mattered as much as their structures.

Strategic risks

• A working version of this design is a political threat — success will attract opposition.
• Co-option: the same instrumentation under corporate control is surveillance; under community governance it is care. The difference is the governance, so the governance is what must be defended.
• Founder dependency: a project rooted in one person's writings is fragile to that person's engagement — one reason everything is published open.
• The personal tool is buildable years before the community is — shipping the most surveillance-capable individual app without the collective benefits is a real failure mode to refuse.
